Before you write
- Include your RoleFit version and build — Profile → Settings → About.
- Include your iPhone model and iOS version.
- Describe what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead.
- If it involves a job import, tell us the site — but please don't send anything confidential.
You can also use Settings → Feedback in the app, which prepares an email with this information already filled in. It opens your own mail app, so nothing is sent until you press send.
Getting started
Do I need an account?
No. RoleFit has no account, no sign-up and no password. You open the app and start using it. Everything you enter stays on your iPhone.
What should I do first?
Fill in your career profile — experience, skills, projects and what you're looking for. Everything else in RoleFit is built on it: match scores, tailored resumes, cover letters and interview questions all draw on the facts you enter there.
The Profile tab shows a completeness indicator so you can see what is still missing and what each addition would improve. You don't have to complete it all at once, but a thin profile produces thin results.
What devices does RoleFit run on?
iPhone running iOS 18 or later. Some analysis uses capabilities Apple provides only on newer devices and newer iOS versions; where one isn't available, RoleFit tells you and falls back to a method that is, rather than silently producing a worse result.
Importing jobs
How do I import a job posting?
Three ways, all on the Jobs tab:
- Paste a link — RoleFit opens the page and reads the posting text.
- Import a PDF — if you have the posting saved as a file.
- Paste the text — copy the description straight from the page.
RoleFit reads the posting's content rather than scraping a particular website, so LinkedIn, Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, Ashby, BambooHR, SmartRecruiters, Teamtailor and ordinary company careers pages all work.
The import failed, or came back nearly empty
Almost always this means the page wasn't readable without being logged in, or it builds its content in a way that a plain page fetch can't see. RoleFit does not log in to sites on your behalf and does not bypass login walls.
The fix is to paste the text. Open the posting in Safari, select the description, copy it, and use "Paste text" in RoleFit. The analysis that follows is identical — the parser works on the posting's words, not on where they came from.
The Import History screen shows what happened at each step of a failed import, which is useful if you want to tell us about it.
RoleFit says a job is a duplicate
The same role often appears on several sites. RoleFit flags a likely duplicate when the application link matches, the content is identical, or the company and title match with strongly overlapping descriptions. It's a warning, not a block — you can keep both if they really are different roles.
Match & analysis
What does the match score actually mean?
It's a weighted combination of four separate scores, each computed against your profile:
- Technical skills — the technologies and skills the posting asks for, against the ones you have.
- Experience — depth and relevance of your history for this level of role.
- Role fit — how close the responsibilities are to what you've actually done.
- Preferences — work model, location, employment type, salary and the rest of what you told RoleFit you want.
Tap into the result and RoleFit shows which of your skills it counted, which requirements it couldn't find, and how it weighted each dimension. There is no opaque percentage — if the app can't explain a number, it doesn't show one.
Why didn't a preference I never set count against me?
By design. RoleFit never penalises you for information it never asked you for. An unstated preference is treated as neutral, not as a mismatch. Filling in more of your preferences makes the Preferences score more meaningful, but leaving one blank will not drag your score down.
Why does the Insights tab say it needs more jobs?
Market Intelligence needs at least 3 imported jobs before it will conclude anything, and some trend comparisons need 6 or more. Below that it shows your raw figures but refuses to draw conclusions, because a "trend" from two data points isn't one.
It's also worth knowing what these insights describe: the jobs you have imported — your own search — not the wider job market. The app says so wherever the figures appear.
Some jobs are missing from the salary figures
Deliberately. A posting with no stated salary is excluded and counted separately rather than treated as zero, and postings in a currency other than the dominant one in your data are excluded and named instead of being converted at a rate RoleFit doesn't have. Absent is not the same as zero, and an average that quietly mixes both would be wrong.
Resumes & documents
Does RoleFit invent experience for me?
No, and this is enforced structurally rather than by asking a model nicely. A generated resume draws only on real entries in your profile: it selects and reorders, it never fabricates. Every job in your history is included — omitting real employment would misrepresent you — and only personal projects are capped, to the few most relevant.
In cover letters and messages, if RoleFit is missing a fact it needs, it either leaves a visible placeholder for you to fill or drops that sentence entirely. It will never write "Dear Hiring Manager" as a stand-in for a name it doesn't know.
You should still read anything before you send it. It's your application.
What is the ATS score checking?
It's RoleFit's own set of checks — formatting, structure, keyword coverage against the posting, and readability — broken into six subscores you can inspect individually, so you can see what to fix rather than just a number.
It is not a simulation of any particular employer's applicant tracking system. Nobody outside those companies knows exactly how each one scores, and an app that claims otherwise is guessing. Treat it as a quality check on your resume, not a prediction.
Shorten and Expand work, but Improve and Rewrite say they're unavailable
Shorten and Expand recompose your document from facts already in it, so they work on every supported device. Improve and Rewrite need an on-device language model, which is available only on newer iPhones and iOS versions. When it isn't there, RoleFit says so plainly rather than quietly doing something worse.
Can I write in Spanish?
Yes. Language is a property of the document, not of your phone — you can write an English cover letter on a Spanish device or the other way round. Where possible RoleFit composes directly in the target language from its own Spanish templates rather than translating an English draft, which reads considerably better.
How do I export or send a document?
Resumes export as a real vector PDF. Documents can be copied, shared, printed or opened in Mail through the standard iOS share sheet. RoleFit never transmits anything by itself — sharing always hands the file to the system at your request, so you see exactly what's leaving before it does.
Interview prep
Why are my interview questions generic?
Personalised questions are generated from a job's analysis — its requirements, responsibilities and the skills it names. If that analysis hasn't run yet, RoleFit falls back to general questions and tells you that it did, rather than passing generic questions off as tailored.
Open the job and let the analysis finish, then generate again. A well-analysed posting typically produces around twenty questions drawn directly from its own text.
How is my practice answer scored?
On six dimensions, using measurable signals in what you actually wrote — whether you named the relevant concepts, how the answer is structured, sentence length distribution, hedging and filler. The scoring is deterministic, so the same answer scores the same every time and your averages over weeks actually mean something. Both English and Spanish cues are recognised, so a Spanish answer isn't penalised.
Technical accuracy is only scored where the question category makes it meaningful, and it measures whether you named the right concepts — not whether what you said about them was correct. The app states that caveat next to the score.
Your best attempt is what counts toward preparedness, so a bad re-run never erases a good answer.
Why won't the preparedness report show my weak areas?
It needs at least two evaluated answers supporting an area before it will name it. One weak answer isn't evidence of a weakness, and RoleFit would rather tell you it doesn't know yet than invent a conclusion. Keep practising and the areas appear.
Some checklist items won't tick
That's intentional. Most checklist items are derived automatically from real data — whether a resume variant exists for this job, whether you have company facts, whether questions were generated, whether a salary expectation and your links are set. Those are read-only and show the fact that satisfies them. Only the items RoleFit genuinely cannot observe, such as reviewing your projects, are yours to tick.
Plans & billing
What's free, and what needs Premium?
The free plan is fully functional: your complete career profile, unlimited match analysis with full reasoning, resume generation, documents, interview prep and tracking. What it limits is how much you accumulate.
| Item | Free | Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Imported jobs | 5 | Unlimited |
| Applications tracked | 10 | Unlimited |
| Resume variants | 3 | Unlimited |
| Generated documents | 5 | Unlimited |
| Visible history entries | 20 | Unlimited |
Premium also unlocks the advanced ATS breakdown, the interview preparedness report and detailed market analytics. It costs €1.99 a month, and there are no ads, credits or coins anywhere in the app.
Anything the paywall marks "Coming soon" is planned work, not something you are paying for yet. It stays labelled that way until it genuinely works.
What happens to my data when I hit a limit?
Nothing is ever deleted. Older history entries stay on your device and reappear in full the moment a subscription becomes active. If a subscription lapses, everything you created remains — you simply return to the free plan's limits on creating and viewing more.
How do I cancel?
In iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → RoleFit. Apple handles the billing, so cancellation happens there rather than inside the app.
Cancelling stops the next renewal; your subscription stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription — cancel first.
I paid but Premium isn't active
Use Profile → Settings → Subscription → Restore Purchases. That asks Apple to re-confirm your entitlement, which is what's needed after reinstalling the app or moving to a new device.
Check you're signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with. If it still doesn't activate, email us with your RoleFit version and the approximate purchase date.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us, because Apple processes the payment. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If you're a consumer in the EU, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Privacy & data
Where is my data?
On your iPhone. RoleFit has no account and no server, so your career profile, saved jobs and generated documents never reach us. There is no copy of your data anywhere we can see.
The full detail is in the Privacy Policy, and a summary lives in the app at Settings → About → Privacy.
Does RoleFit connect to the internet?
Barely. It connects in three situations: fetching a job posting you asked it to import (the request goes to that website, not to us), talking to the App Store about subscriptions, and — if you enable it — syncing with your own iCloud account.
All the analysis happens on your device: reading postings, matching, writing documents, scoring answers and computing insights. Importing by PDF or pasted text makes no network request at all.
How does iCloud sync work?
iCloud sync is not available in version 1.0. The Sync screen will report "Not configured", and the paywall lists it as "Coming soon" rather than as part of what Premium gives you today. If keeping two devices in step is the reason you were going to subscribe, please wait for the update.
In the meantime, use Settings → Cloud Sync → Backups to export a backup and restore it on another device.
When sync does arrive it will use Apple's CloudKit private database, which means your data goes to your own iCloud account — we will have no access to that container and no key to it. It will be optional and off until you turn it on.
How do I back up, or move to a new iPhone?
Export a backup from Settings → Cloud Sync → Backups before you switch devices, and restore it on the new one. A standard encrypted iPhone backup also includes RoleFit's data.
Because we hold no copy, we cannot recover your data for you if you delete the app or lose your device. That's the trade-off of an app with no account — please keep a backup.
How do I delete everything?
Delete individual records inside the app, or delete RoleFit from your iPhone to remove its database and all local files at once. If you enabled iCloud sync, you can also clear its data in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. There's no deletion request to send us, because there's nothing on our side to delete.
Troubleshooting
I'm not getting reminders
Check, in order:
- Notifications are allowed in iOS Settings → RoleFit → Notifications.
- The relevant category is enabled in RoleFit → Settings → Notifications.
- Quiet hours aren't deferring it — RoleFit holds notifications during the hours you set.
- The reminder date hasn't already passed. RoleFit drops notifications scheduled for a time in the past rather than firing them late.
RoleFit also caps how many reminders can be outstanding at once, on purpose. It will never send you a promotional or re-engagement notification.
Something is in the wrong language
The app's interface follows your iPhone's language. Documents follow their own language setting, which you choose per document — so Spanish app chrome around an English cover letter is correct behaviour, not a bug.
If you find a genuine mistranslation, please send us a screenshot; those are quick to fix.
The app crashed, or a screen won't load
Force-quit and reopen first. If it's repeatable, email us with your version and build from Settings → About, your iOS version, and what you were doing. The in-app Settings → Feedback option gathers most of that automatically.
Please don't delete the app before writing to us — that also deletes your data, and we can't restore it.
I have a feature request
Send it to gerodriguez26@gmail.com. RoleFit is built around one question — given who I am, should I apply to this job, and how do I maximise my chances? — and requests that sharpen the answer to it get furthest.
