Stacks does not collect your data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs of any kind. Everything you save is stored in a database on your own iPhone, and we have no way to see it.
The rest of this page explains exactly what that means and describes the only situations in which the app talks to the network at all.
This policy covers the Stacks iPhone and iPad app and its "Save to Stacks" share extension. Stacks is developed and published by Gerard Rodriguez. If anything here is unclear, you can reach us at gerodriguez26@gmail.com.
None. Stacks has no servers. We do not collect, receive, transmit or store any personal information about you. Specifically, Stacks contains:

Everything Stacks knows about you lives on your device, inside the app's private storage:
The share extension writes newly shared links into a shared container on your device so the main app can pick them up. That container is on your device too, and is only readable by Stacks.
Stacks does not use iCloud sync, so this data is not copied to iCloud by the app. It may still be included in your device backups if you have iPhone or iCloud backup enabled — those backups are controlled by you and by Apple, not by us.
Stacks makes outbound requests in only three situations, and none of them send information to us:
When you save a link, Stacks requests that page directly in order to read its title, description and cover image — the same request your web browser makes when you open the page. This connection is between your device and that website. As with any visit to a website, the operator of that site can see the request, including your IP address and a browser-style user agent. Stacks does not send them your name, your other saves, or any identifier for you or your device.
If a save is associated with a place, Stacks asks Apple's MapKit to convert that place name into map coordinates so it can appear on the Map tab. The place name is sent to Apple for that lookup. This is handled by Apple and is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. Stacks never asks for or accesses your device's own location.
Thumbnails are loaded from the website the save came from, so that site sees an image request in the same way as in (a).
There are no other network connections. Stacks has no backend, so no analytics ping, telemetry event or content upload is possible.
On iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, Stacks uses Apple's on-device foundation model to work out what each save is and to write its title, summary and tags. This analysis runs on your device. The content of your saves is not sent to us, and is not sent off your device by Stacks for this purpose.
On devices without Apple Intelligence — or when it is switched off or still preparing — Stacks falls back to a simple keyword-based analyzer that also runs entirely on your device. The Profile screen in the app tells you which of the two is currently being used.
Search works the same way: it uses Apple's on-device Natural Language word embeddings to match meaning rather than exact words. No search query leaves your device.
If you create a reminder, Stacks asks for permission to send notifications and then schedules them locally on your device. Stacks does not operate a push notification server, so no reminder content is transmitted anywhere. You can revoke notification permission at any time in iOS Settings.
Stacks asks iOS for occasional background time so that links you shared from other apps are imported and organized before you next open it. This work is entirely local to your device.
Stacks is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect information from anyone — children included — because it does not collect information at all.
You can delete any individual save, note, collection or reminder inside the app at any time. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device. Because we hold no copy of anything, there is no server-side data for you to request, correct, export or have erased — and no request to us is needed.
If you are in a region with data protection laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, note that the rights those laws grant over data held by a company do not require any action here, as we hold no such data.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Material changes affecting how the app handles your information will also be noted in the app's release notes.
